What I‘ve learned this week…

I have learned that the drive to Avedo is really bumpy on the back of a motorbike.

I have learned that I am just not a fan of goat meat.

I have learned that “tutu kpe dzi” means clean the board.

I have learned that the students in Avedo want to teachers, doctors, engineers, presidents, reverend sisters, nurses, and more.

I have learned that the funerals here are very, very long.

I have learned that “ground nut paste” is just good ol’ peanut butter.

I have learned that children everywhere are motivated by candy.

Fruit Loop Milk

So much has happened this week that It’s hard to know where to begin, so I’ll start with a lovely discovery we made this morning – Fruit Loop Milk Tea. Almost everyone morning we drink a tea made of lemongrass and it has been delicious. This morning Kwasi put Cowbell (powdered milk) and a sugar cube in our cups and guess what you get? A tea that tastes just like the leftover milk in the bowl after you’ve eaten all the fruit loops! A lovely and unexpected reminder of home.
